This section deals with diving in and around Cape Town. If you find you have further questions, contact Brandon for information.

Is the diving in Cape Town good?
We think so. Absolutely great.
Read this recently published article for an outsiders opinion.

When do Bubble Blowers dive?
Since we're constantly running SCUBA courses, we dive most days of the week. Generaly Monday to Saturday is shore entry. On Sundays we do up to 3 boat dives - launches depend on weather.

Have a look at the schedule to see what we're up to this week.
( Of course, if we have at least 6 divers, we'll launch the boat any day you like, as long as conditions are good. )

What does it cost?
Most boat dives cost R100. We occasionally venture further afield and prices are adjusted according to the distance we need to travel. Shore dives are R70.

Where do we dive?
We're very fortunate to literally have 2 oceans surrounding the Cape Peninsula. In Summer visibility is generally best on the Atlantic side, while in winter False bay, on the Indian ocean, clears up.
Dives sites are dotted along the peninsula and are a mix of kelp forest, reef and wreck - see the "local sites" page for more information.

What boat do we use?
We dive from a 6m semi-rigid inflatable. These boats have proven most comforteable for local conditions.

What time of year is good for diving in Cape Town?
In Summer, the water is generally colder (9-14°C), but visibility is reliably between 8 and 15 meters. Occasionally more.
In winter, when we dive in the Indian ocean, sea temperatures rise to 18 °C and the viz drops to 4-10 meters.
Except for the migratory right whales which we see mostly in early Summer, sea life is pretty similar year round, though the reefs on either side of the peninsula differ substantially.

What can I expect to see?
Whales, seals, lobster, abalone, kelp forest....the list goes on and on. Have a look at the photo gallery for an idea of the Cape underwater scenery.
